An established and well-regarded economic consultancy is looking to hire an experienced and analytically strong professional, to support its financial economics and regulatory finance projects. Based in London, this role offers an exciting opportunity to influence regulatory policy across the energy, water, transport, and telecoms sectors.
Role
You will join a high-performing team of economists and finance professionals, providing analytical and strategic advice to public and private sector clients. The work is dynamic and impactful, often shaping regulatory decisions and market structures in the UK and internationally. Your core focus will be applying financial economic theory to real-world challenges in regulated industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the delivery of high-quality client reports and analysis
- Offer expert advice on financial economic and regulatory finance issues
- Translate complex technical findings into clear, client-ready outputs
- Play a key role in developing winning proposals and securing new business
- Manage project workstreams and support junior team members
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to communicate findings
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in financial economics, regulatory finance, or a related field. Experience in consultancy, regulated industries, government, or academia is welcome
- Strong knowledge of cost of capital, infrastructure financing (debt and equity), and models such as CAPM. Experience in financial modelling or accounting is also valued
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams is essential; skills in Stata, Python, or R are a plus
- Ability to oversee workstreams and small teams, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with an aptitude for tailoring technical content to different audiences
