A dynamic advisory firm is seeking a Research Analyst or Research Associate to join its expanding team focused on water markets. This position is well-suited for individuals early in their careers or with a few years of analytical experience, offering hands-on involvement in water pricing, asset evaluation, and strategic advisory work across the Western United States.
You’ll play a pivotal role in tracking water rights trading, analysing regional market trends, and building robust economic models. Working alongside experienced consultants, your work will underpin valuation studies, transaction advisory, and client reports in water resource economics
Key Responsibilities
- Research and monitor water rights transactions in key Western U.S. markets
- Gather and collate regulatory, transactional, and pricing data
- Support valuation and financial analysis for water assets and trades
- Prepare clear, client-facing reports and presentations
- Build and maintain economic and financial models (e.g., Excel, Python or R)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Agriculture Economics or related
- Proven experience in consulting, modelling or environmental economics
- Analytical and quantitative proficiency, with strong attention to data quality
- Experience with economic or financial modelling tools (used Excel, Python, R, or Tableau)
- Strong written/verbal communication and able to translate data into insights
- Knowledge of water markets, resource regulation, or environmental policy is a significant advantage
- An understanding or at least an interest of Western U.S. water rights and regulatory frameworks
- Must have the right to work in the US without sponsorship
